Two-step verification at sign-in
When two-factor authentication is on, sign-in asks for a code from your authenticator app or your email after your password.
Two-step verification adds a code to your sign-in. It is off until you turn it on for your own account; see Set up two-factor authentication.
Steps
- Sign in with your Email and Password as usual.
- The page Two-step verification appears.
- With an authenticator app: open the app and enter the current 6-digit code.
- With email or SMS codes: the page says We sent a code to {{email}}. Enter the code from that message.
- Click Verify.
If you cannot get a code
- Email or SMS codes can be sent again with Resend code once the countdown finishes.
- Lost your phone? Click Use a backup code instead and enter one of the backup codes you saved when you switched two-step verification on. Each backup code works once.
- Click Use a verification code instead to go back to the normal code field.
- Back to login returns you to the password step.
